Do you remember a few months after 9/11 there were a whole bunch of pious comic book titles with angtsy superheroes asking themselves how they could’ve let this happen on their watch? Uh, gee, do you think it could be because you’re fictional? And all that stuff about how the police and firemen were the REAL heroes. Sigh. Who needs ‘Death of Superman’ when there’s real tragic historical events to be turned into sales-boosting plot points and nice patriotic covers?

I thought it would be more interesting to write something about someone who dreams that she’s trapped in that situation, but isn’t much use because she can’t remember the precise details of when and where things happened. So it’s still bad taste, but at least I’m not making any money off it.
